Sometimes the Best Path Forward Has No Movement

ree

The theme of the week: sometimes not taking action is what is truly needed in the moment. This is definitely not always true, but it is important to identify it when it is true. For me personally, I was sick and had to cancel the day – I had to stop, and I had to rest. For others, it was not having the information needed to make a choice and others trying to break the patterns of impulsivity, rushing to action that is.

This week’s experience reminded me of my favorite activity as a teacher; every year my classroom would have caterpillars. We would get to watch as they energetically crawled all around and ate up all the food they could.  Then the next phase started. The cute, chubby caterpillars went into their chrysalis. They are wrapped up, they are attached, and they appear to be still. However, there is so much happening in this “still” phase. It would not be possible to have this happen and the caterpillars remain as roaming caterpillars. They have to hide away in these little sack-like structures. With a little bit of time and patience, something magical happens. There is literally a metamorphosis taking place. Soon our cute caterpillar emerges as this beautiful creature of flight.

So, with this I ask you to take a moment and reflect. Where are you on your journey? Is it time to energetically get around and collect all you need? Is it time to get wrapped up and prepare for a big change? Or is it time to soar on a new adventure?

Yes, this one is short, but sweet.

As always, I am here to help, simply reach out.
